Aims and Topics

Redesigning Higher Education

in Changeable Socio-Economical Contexts

The conference will bring together students, academics, experts and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines to discuss past and current projects of higher education. The goal of the conference is to exchange experience and ideas of the optimal organization of the university. On the one hand, we would like to examine implicit axiological assumptions of the projects. On the other hand, we would like to consider their practical implementation problems in local economical, legal, political and cultural contexts.

We would like to focus on the unique tasks of the university in shaping civic virtues, educating social elites, creating an attractive culture and a competitive economy. We hope that the conference will provide an opportunity to exchange good practices and solutions. Instead of complaining about the current situation, we wish to focus on the most promising projects and practices. Speakers should properly justify their postulates by taking into account social expectations and needs, socio-economical conditioning and values at stake (such as, common good, social utility, human well-being, freedom, rights and others).

Suggested subject areas:

  1. University projects and their justification as the key to their interpretation
  2. Lean management tactics of university management
  3. Axiological assumptions of university design
  4. Cultural, geographical and social determinants of university projects
  5. Scientific and didactic missions of the university
  6. Vocational education at universities: good and bad practices
  7. Competences of social elites
  8. Formal qualifications versus predispositions, competences and skills of university managers

The conference language is English (some panel sessions can be held in Polish and Spanish). There is a possibility to participate in the conference via videoconferencing. We are going to publish full texts (in a scientific monograph) and the book of abstracts (after the conference). In order to promote economic equality, we do not charge a conference fee.
